# The best legal AI for lawyers outside the United States, ranked by jurisdiction

*Alejandro Cárdenas · October 31, 2026*

The best legal AI for lawyers outside the United States is RuleX. It is published in 20 countries across Latin America, Spain and the United States, with the interface and drafting in Spanish in 18 countries, Portuguese in Brazil and English in the United States. Research runs over each country's official sources with the citation linked (in Colombia, seven specialized indexes over more than 65,000 official sources), deadlines are counted with each country's holidays and non-court days, and prices are listed in COP, MXN, PEN, BRL, CLP, ARS, UYU, PYG, BOB, EUR and USD, with a 7-day free trial without a card.

Many legal AI products publish US-centred coverage and open with a demo request. A lawyer in Bogotá, São Paulo, Lima or Madrid asks different questions: which country's official sources does the research read, who counts a term with my court calendar, does it draft in my language, and what do I pay, in which currency? This ranking orders the field by those jurisdiction checks, and the table records what each vendor publishes. RuleX publishes it and is one of the products ranked: competitor data comes from each vendor's own site and press releases checked on October 30, 2026, and RuleX data comes from the product.

## First place outside the United States: RuleX, built for each country's forum

RuleX leads outside the United States because the five jurisdiction checks have answers you can open. The research reads the official sources of the country and links every citation. Terms are counted with the holidays and non-court days of twenty countries. The interface and the drafting run in Spanish in 18 countries, in Portuguese in Brazil and in English in the United States, with terms such as derecho de petición, tutela, amparo and petição inicial. Prices are listed for each market, and the 7-day trial starts without a card. vLex Vincent, CoCounsel, Lexis+ with Protégé, Harvey, Spellbook, Legalfly and GC AI each publish their own coverage, described below. RuleX brings the five checks together with the matter file, the Drafter and Word delivery.

## Test a legal AI in your own jurisdiction: a six-step checklist

Use a matter from your own court and your own language. A tool built around one country shows its edges in the first hour.

1. **Ask a question only your forum answers.** A Colombian lawyer asks for a derecho de petición or a tutela, a Mexican lawyer for an amparo, a Brazilian lawyer for a petição inicial. Check that the tool uses the vocabulary of that forum.
2. **Open the sources.** Click every citation and check that it leads to your country's official source, not to a foreign summary. RuleX links each citation to the original document.
3. **Count a real term.** Give the tool a filing date and a procedural term, and compare its count with your own calendar. RuleX counts with the holidays and non-court days of the country, and with the recess rules of Brazil, Spain, Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay.
4. **Read the price for your market.** Find the monthly price for your country. RuleX lists Student, Pro and Ultra in COP, MXN, PEN, BRL, CLP, ARS, UYU, PYG, BOB, EUR and USD.
5. **Upload a real file with scans.** Load a file with scanned pages and a judgment in your language. RuleX takes up to twenty files per message and reads scans with OCR.
6. **Look up a live case.** Where your country has an integration, look up a case from the tool. RuleX follows cases in Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic and saves the actions in the matter.

## Questions to ask a vendor about your country

Global vendors answer these in a sentence when the answer is yes, and the sentence is worth reading.

- Which official sources of my country does the research read, and does each citation open to the original?
- Does the interface, and the drafting, run in my language?
- Does the deadline count use my country’s holidays and court recesses?
- What does it cost per month in my country, and how do I pay?
- Can I follow my court cases from the tool?
- Can I start without a demo call and without a card?
- Which of my country’s forms and filings does it draft with local terminology?

## A Brazilian case: look it up, count the term across the recess, draft in Portuguese

A lawyer in São Paulo looks up a case by its 20-digit CNJ number in DataJud from RuleX, and the actions are saved in the matter. She asks the Deadline calculator to count a term that crosses the end of the year: it uses the national holidays and the forensic recess from December 20 to January 20 (CPC art. 220). She loads the complaint and its attachments, including scans, and the Drafter, writing in Portuguese with the terminology of the forum, asks up to three questions with selectable answers and drafts in the Canvas beside the file.

- The case with its latest actions, saved in the matter with the lawyer’s own notes.
- A term counted with the national holidays and the December recess, with the date it lands on.
- A draft in Portuguese in the Canvas with each citation linked to its source, exported to Word with the authorities identified in the text.
- Tasks and dates added to the matter, with a log.

## Five jurisdiction checks order the list

Outside the United States, a legal AI is judged by five things: the official sources it reads, the language and vocabulary it writes in, the calendar it counts with, the tracking it offers for local courts and the price in the currency of the market. Each can be checked in an hour with a matter from your own court.

Method: RuleX publishes this page and is one of the products ranked. Competitor data comes from each vendor's own site and press releases checked on October 30, 2026, and RuleX data comes from the product. Where a vendor publishes the markets and languages it covers, the table repeats them.

## Official sources of the country, with the citation linked

In Colombia, RuleX routes each question across seven specialized indexes: the tax authority DIAN, the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, general law, statutes and regulations, the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the Council of State. They draw on more than 65,000 official sources, and the citation links to the source. Colombia also brings official open data to the chat (SECOP, RUES and the official exchange rate), 97 official Ministry of Justice templates and 14 free tools.

In the other 19 countries, RuleX researches the official sources of the country with a query plan that fits the jurisdiction and delivers each citation with its link. The Direct, Balanced and In depth modes set how far a question goes.

vLex's Vincent AI presents a library of more than one billion documents from more than 100 countries and lists workflows for Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the European Union, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States (vlex.com/vincent-ai); vLex's Spanish site offers variants for Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru (vlex.es). Clio completed the acquisition of vLex on November 10, 2025.

## Deadlines counted with each country's calendar

The Deadline calculator and the Holidays tool work in all 20 countries, from calendars kept per country. The counts follow local rules: Brazil's national holidays and the forensic recess from December 20 to January 20 (CPC art. 220); Bolivia's rule in Law 439 art. 90, business days for terms up to 15 days and calendar days beyond; the Dominican Republic's CPC art. 87, calendar days with the end extended to the first business day; Uruguay's Law 15.982 art. 94; Ecuador's recess by region (COFJ art. 96); Argentina's July recess, applied per year; and calendar days by default in Venezuela (CPC art. 197).

A lawyer enters the filing date and the term, and the answer shows the date it lands on and the days skipped. The count can be attached to a task in the matter, so the date lives beside the draft.

## Court lookup in 6 countries, nightly monitoring in Colombia

In Colombia, RuleX checks the Rama Judicial every night, emails the movements in the morning and files the PDF of each action and status in the case; more than 7,000 judicial processes are followed that way. In Brazil (DataJud), Argentina (JusCABA), Uruguay (IUE), Bolivia (SIREJ) and the Dominican Republic (NUC), the lawyer looks up and follows cases from RuleX, and the actions are saved in the matter.

Vincent lists court-record analysis with profiles of judges, lawyers and parties (vlex.com). Harvey lists Horizon Scanning for regulatory tracking (harvey.ai), and Legora lists Monitors for regulatory changes (legora.com).

## Language and the forum's vocabulary

The interface, the research and the drafting run in Spanish in 18 countries, in Portuguese in Brazil and in English in the United States. The Drafter uses the vocabulary of the court: derecho de petición and tutela in Colombia, amparo in Mexico, petição inicial in Brazil. It asks up to three questions with selectable answers when an essential fact is missing, and marks secondary details in brackets.

Hearing recordings are transcribed in the same workspace: audio or video up to 2 GB and 6 hours, or the microphone live, with speakers separated and the lawyer assigning the role. Transcription is part of Pro and Ultra.
