# Legal AI for small law firms: one plan per lawyer, one workspace for the matter

*Alejandro Cárdenas · October 31, 2026*

RuleX gives a small firm a working legal AI at a published price. Each lawyer holds Pro, named Standard in the United States at $39.90 a month, and takes a matter from the case file to the filed document: up to twenty files per message, research with citations that open, a draft in the Canvas, export to Word, and deadlines counted with the holidays of twenty countries. Projects and Apps carry the firm's repeat work. Enterprise adds clients, roles, teams per matter and billing statements when the firm needs them. Sign-up is online, and the seven-day trial needs no card.

A small firm needs the tool to pay for itself in the matters it already has, to be live this week and to grow into a team without a migration. RuleX is priced per lawyer, opens after an online sign-up, and gives the firm a ladder: individual plans first, Enterprise when the practice needs one place for clients, roles and billing.

## For a small firm, RuleX starts at one plan per lawyer and grows into Enterprise on the firm's schedule.

You pay for the lawyers who use it, at a price you can read: $119.70 a month for three Standard plans in the United States. Every lawyer gets the same workflow from case file to Word. The day the firm wants a client directory, roles, teams per matter and billing statements in the same workspace, Enterprise adds them to each lawyer's Pro, with no change of tool.

## How a small firm sets RuleX up

The setup is a sequence of ordinary working days, and nobody schedules an implementation project.

1. **Each lawyer opens an account.** Sign-up is online with an email address, and the seven-day trial opens the full workspace. A lawyer chooses Pro, named Standard in the United States, when the trial ends.
2. **Open a Project for the live matter.** A Project holds the instructions, up to thirty source documents, the conversation threads and the deliverables of one matter. The partner shares it with the associates through a link that works for seven days and asks each person to sign in.
3. **Ask, draft and export from the same file.** Questions return answers with sources that open. The Drafter asks the few questions a draft needs, writes in the Canvas beside the matter and exports to Word. The associate edits a document that already has the facts, the citations and the structure.
4. **Turn the firm's checklist into an App.** Describe the intake checklist or the review the firm repeats in plain language. RuleX proposes the structure, you test it on a real matter, publish the tested version and share it with colleagues by expiring link, or under "Your firm" once Enterprise sets up the organization.
5. **Add Enterprise when the practice needs it.** When the firm wants one directory of clients, permissions by role and billing statements, it arranges Enterprise through the contact page. Every lawyer keeps everything in Pro and gains the team layer.

## A four-lawyer firm takes a commercial lease dispute

Illustration. A partner and three associates take over a commercial lease dispute with twenty-two documents: the lease, amendments, notices, rent ledgers, emails and two scanned letters. The partner builds one Project, shares it with the associates and sets the response deadline with the Deadline calculator. One associate drafts the answer in the Canvas, another builds the exhibit list, and the partner reviews both in Word.

- A Project with the twenty-two documents, the scans read through OCR and the questions the team has asked.
- A chronology of notices and payments with the source document named for each entry.
- The draft answer exported to Word, each authority identified by court, number and year.
- The response deadline counted and saved to the calendar, with dated tasks on the matter.
- The monthly cost for the four Standard plans: $159.60.

## The price scales with the lawyers who use it

Pro is a per-lawyer plan. In the United States it is $39.90 a month, or $359.10 for twelve months, which is nine payments. A firm with a heavy-volume litigator can put that lawyer on Ultra at $69.90 and keep the others on Standard.

The table below shows the cost by firm size. Other countries have their own published price, listed on the pricing page.

## The matter stays in one place from intake to Word

The case file goes in once: PDF, Word, Excel, images, audio and video, up to twenty files per message. When the file is long, RuleX reads each document separately so that detail survives. Research answers carry sources that open, the Drafter writes in the Canvas next to the matter, and the result exports to Word with native heading styles and page numbers.

The matter also holds tasks, dates and a log, billable hours on Pro and Ultra, and a Calendar. The Deadline calculator counts days with the holidays and the non-business judicial days of the country, across twenty countries.

## Projects and Apps hold the firm's repeat work

A Project is the workspace of one matter that lasts days or months: up to thirty source documents, instructions, threads and deliverables. It can stay private or be shared with a colleague by a seven-day link that asks for a sign-in; inside an Enterprise organization it can also be visible to the whole firm.

Apps and agents are built in plain language, with no code: a guided workflow, a chat App with the firm's own instructions, or a small tool in the Canvas. You test one on a real matter, publish the tested version and share it by link. Table Review is ready from the start: it reads up to twenty-five documents against up to twenty questions, with one document per row and one question per column, and each cell shows its evidence.

## Enterprise gives the firm a client directory, roles and billing

Enterprise is arranged in a conversation with the RuleX team. It adds a client directory (CRM), users with roles and permissions, teams and tasks per matter, team reports and workload, billable hours and billing statements (cuentas de cobro). Sharing an App with the whole firm, shown as "Your firm", works inside the organization that Enterprise sets up.

Firms moving existing case files into RuleX use bulk upload, which loads files in batches and retries any piece that fails.

## Online sign-up and a path to assisted setup

Lawyers sign up online and begin with the trial on a matter of their own. Ultra adds assisted implementation of complex matters, a direct WhatsApp line and early access to new features, which suits the lawyer who carries the firm's heaviest files.

Support runs inside the application and by email.

## What a firm pays each month in the United States

Standard is the Pro plan under its United States name. Prices read from the live catalog.

| Firm | Plans | Per month | Twelve-month terms | Added when the firm needs it |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Two lawyers | 2 Standard | $79.80 | $718.20 | Shared Projects and Apps |
| Three lawyers | 3 Standard | $119.70 | $1,077.30 | Table Review for document batches |
| Four lawyers | 3 Standard + 1 Ultra | $189.60 | $1,706.40 | Ultra: 50 In depth answers and 20 transcriptions a day |
| Five lawyers | 5 Standard | $199.50 | $1,795.50 | Enterprise: client directory and roles |
| Ten lawyers | 10 Standard | $399.00 | $3,591.00 | Enterprise: teams per matter and billing statements |

Six months equal five monthly payments and twelve months equal nine. Enterprise is priced in a conversation with the team. Plans in other countries are listed on the pricing page.
