# Legal AI in Spanish: the filing, the scan and the hearing in the language of the court

*Alejandro Cárdenas · October 31, 2026*

RuleX is legal AI in Spanish for lawyers in 18 Spanish-speaking countries. It drafts with the procedural vocabulary of each system (demanda, escrito, memorial, tutela, derecho de petición, amparo), reads Spanish case files, scanned PDFs included, through OCR, transcribes hearings in Spanish with the speakers separated, and delivers the filing in Word. Research cites each country’s official sources with a link, and deadlines are counted on that country’s calendar. The interface is in Spanish, with plans from COP 30,000 a month in Colombia and EUR 24.90 in Spain, and a 7-day trial with no card.

Spanish is one language and eighteen procedural systems. A tutela is not an amparo, a memorial is not a demanda, and the clock behind each one is different. RuleX works in the language of the file and in the vocabulary of the court that will read it.

## For legal work in Spanish, RuleX.

Because it works in the language of the file and of the court. It reads the Spanish scan, asks the questions the filing needs, writes in the register a judge expects and hands back a Word file, with the term counted on your country’s calendar.

## From a Spanish-language file to a Spanish-language filing

Five steps, in one workspace.

1. **Upload what you have.** PDF, Word, Excel, photographs, audio and video, up to twenty files per message. Scanned pages are read with OCR, so the notification, the denial letter or the signed contract becomes text that can be questioned.
2. **Say what you need, in Spanish.** One line is enough to start: “contestación de demanda”, “derecho de petición a una EPS”, “recurso de apelación”, “demanda de amparo”. The Drafter takes it from there.
3. **Answer up to three questions.** RuleX asks for what the document cannot do without, one question at a time, with two to four answers to pick from. Secondary data become bracketed placeholders in the draft.
4. **Read the draft beside the file.** The filing appears in the Canvas, with the documents at its side. Change a paragraph, ask for another tone, request a stronger statement of the facts.
5. **Export to Word.** The Word file has native headings, lists and a “Página X de Y” footer. The deadline is counted on the calendar of your country, and the matter keeps the file for the next filing.

## What RuleX asks before a filing in Spanish

Up to three of these, one at a time, depending on what the document still lacks:

- ¿Qué se pretende con el escrito?
- ¿Qué derecho o norma se invoca?
- ¿Cuál es el hecho principal?
- ¿Contra quién se dirige?
- ¿Ante qué autoridad se presenta?

## A derecho de petición to a health insurer, written from one instruction

A lawyer in Bogotá types one line, “derecho de petición a una EPS”, into an empty document. RuleX researches the Colombian sources, asks what it needs, and writes. In a production measurement on October 28, the result was a letter of about 900 words with four cited sources, complete about twenty seconds after the last answer. When the lawyer also has the denial letter and the doctor’s order, even as scans, uploading them lets the Drafter write each fact from the documents.

- A complete derecho de petición in connected paragraphs, with the petition, the grounds and the requests laid out.
- Four sources cited, each opening on its official page.
- An editable text in the Canvas: any paragraph can change, and the tone can be adjusted.
- A Word file, ready to sign and file.
- With the denial letter uploaded, the facts are written from its content and the letter is listed among the annexes.

## The same language, a different procedure in every country

A Colombian lawyer files a tutela. A Mexican lawyer files an amparo. A Chilean lawyer files a recurso de protección. A Spanish lawyer files through a procurador. Terms that look alike do not mean the same thing, and the term that runs against the client is counted differently in each place. The table shows what RuleX writes and counts for six systems.

The Drafter takes the action from your instruction and asks, when the instruction leaves it open, which one you are filing, so the structure comes from the right system: the contents that article 82 of the Código General del Proceso requires in a Colombian demanda, the conceptos de violación in Mexico, the recurso de protección of article 20 of the Chilean Constitution, the Ley 31307 amparo in Peru.

## Drafting in the register the court expects

RuleX writes a pleading the way a litigator does: in paragraphs joined by connectors, reserving lists for what the craft puts in lists, such as the claims and the evidence. The result is a text a lawyer polishes, not a template with blanks.

For Colombia, the Drafter also opens 97 official model documents from the Ministry of Justice and works from them with the facts of the case. A firm can load its own Word templates (up to 20 MB each) and the export keeps the firm’s format. The Word file has real styles, so the headings that show in the draft are the headings of the document.

## Scans, photographs and PDFs in Spanish are read where they are

Case files in Latin America and Spain arrive as scanned notifications, photographed contracts and PDF printouts of emails. RuleX reads them with OCR, page by page, and the text joins the matter. It has read more than 30,000 scanned documents, 400,000 pages, so far. Long PDFs are accepted, and from there the questions run against the text: where the notification date appears, which clause sets the penalty, what the expert report concluded.

## Hearings in Spanish, with the roles named

Upload the audio or video of the hearing (up to 2 GB and six hours) or open the microphone live. RuleX writes the transcript in Spanish and labels the voices Speaker A, B and so on. The lawyer assigns the roles (juez, fiscal, demandante, testigo), and the minutes come out with those names and the time of each intervention. The record is saved in your transcription history with speakers, roles and timestamps; attach the recording to a chat message or add it to a Project and RuleX transcribes it into a document that the assistant and the Drafter read, so a closing argument can be drafted from what was actually said. Transcription comes with Pro (five a day) and Ultra (twenty a day).

## Research in Spanish, with the source one click away

In Colombia, the question runs across seven specialized indexes (DIAN, SIC, general law, statutes and regulations, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court and Council of State) built on more than 65,000 official sources. In every other Spanish-speaking country, RuleX researches that country’s official sources: the gazette, the legislature, the courts.

Each citation is a link to the original text. The link opens the text in the language it was published, and the lawyer reads the passage on the publisher’s page before it goes into a filing.

## An interface in Spanish in 18 countries, priced by market

Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Panama, Venezuela, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Spain each have their own price. In Colombia the three plans cost COP 30,000, 40,000 and 70,000 a month; in Spain, EUR 24.90, 32.90 and 57.90; in Mexico, MXN 189, 249 and 439. The 7-day trial needs no card, and more than 4,000 registered professionals already work in RuleX.

## What changes between the main Spanish-language systems

The name of the file, the filings the Drafter writes by name, and the clock it counts with.

| Country | The file is called | Filings written by name | The term is counted with |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Colombia | Expediente; radicado of 23 digits | Demanda, derecho de petición, tutela, recursos | The Colombian judicial calendar and its holidays |
| Mexico | Expediente | Demanda de amparo, with conceptos de violación | The federal profile; the amparo’s fifteen days and the fixed dates of the Ley de Amparo |
| Argentina | Causa; CUIJ in Buenos Aires City | Demanda, contestación | CPCCN working days and the holidays of Law 27.399, with the two-hour grace of article 124 flagged |
| Chile | Causa | Recurso de protección (article 20), demanda, contestación | The Code of Civil Procedure, where Saturday is a working day |
| Peru | Carpeta | Memorial, demanda de amparo (Ley 31307) | CPC articles 141 and 147 and the holidays of D.Leg. 713 |
| Spain | Expediente; the procurador files | Demanda, contestación (LEC) | LEC articles 130 and 133 and LOPJ 182 to 185: August and December 24 to January 6 excluded |

Twelve more Spanish-speaking markets have their own calendar and prices. Brazil works in Portuguese on its own page.

## What comes out in Spanish

- Demandas, contestaciones, recursos, memoriales and derechos de petición in Word
- The tutela and the derecho de petición as ready-made actions in Colombia
- Excel timelines of the term, counted on the calendar of the country
- Scanned expedientes turned into searchable text
- Hearing transcripts with named roles and minutes
- PDF for the client and slides for the board, in Spanish

## Terms that look alike and are not

The tutela of Colombia and the amparo of Mexico both protect fundamental rights, and each follows its own procedure and its own clock. The same goes for a demanda, a petición inicial and a petição inicial, and for a memorial, an escrito and a peça. RuleX takes the action from your instruction, asks when the instruction leaves it open, and drafts with the term the court uses.
