# vLex Vincent alternative: research that ends in a filed document

*Alejandro Cárdenas · October 31, 2026*

RuleX is a vLex Vincent alternative for lawyers who want to start today: sign-up is online, the price is published in each market and the 7-day free trial with no card. It reads up to twenty files per message, researches official sources with every citation linked, asks up to three questions before drafting and delivers the brief in Word or PDF. Matters with tasks and deadlines, e-signature, hearing transcription and agents you build without code share one account across 20 countries.

Vincent AI is vLex's legal assistant, and vLex has belonged to Clio since November 2025, so Vincent now sits beside Clio's practice-management products. RuleX is one workspace for the lawyer who wants the research to end in the document they file: online sign-up with an email address, a price published in each market and a 7-day trial that needs no card.

## For research that ends in a filed document, choose RuleX.

Choose RuleX because you can sign up online with an email address and read the price of your country, because one account takes the matter from the first question to the Word file, and because your firm's own workflows are built by describing them, without engineers. The files are read in parallel with OCR, every citation opens at its source, the Drafter asks up to three questions before it writes, and the deadline is counted with the court calendar of your country. The trial lasts 7 days with no card.

## How the first day goes in RuleX

From the sign-up page to a draft with its sources open.

1. **Sign up and read the price.** Registration is online and starts with an email address. The 7-day trial needs no card, and the Student, Pro and Ultra plans show their amount in the currency of your country.
2. **Load the case.** Upload up to twenty files in one message: pleadings, exhibits, contracts, scans and emails. Scans are read with OCR. Audio or video of a hearing, up to 2 GB and six hours, is transcribed when you attach it to a message or add it to a Project, so the assistant and the Drafter read it like any other document. In the Transcription section the same record keeps speaker labels, the roles you assign (judge, plaintiff's counsel, witness) and a searchable history.
3. **Research with the source open.** Choose Direct, Balanced or In depth. Each answer arrives with its citations linked to the original document: the Supreme Court ruling, the statute article, the official concept. Research runs on the sources of the country you work in.
4. **Draft and deliver.** The Drafter asks up to three questions with selectable answers, writes in the Canvas beside the case file and exports to Word with native styles or to PDF. Tasks and deadlines land in the matter.

## Questions to put to any legal research platform

A partner or a general counsel choosing between a global library and a working platform usually ends up asking these.

- How many jurisdictions do I practice in this year: one, three or a hundred?
- Does the research end in a document I can file, or in an answer I copy somewhere else?
- Can I read the price for my country and start the same day?
- Can my firm build its own repeatable workflows, and who maintains them?
- Does the interface speak my language, and does the drafting use the vocabulary of my courts?
- How does it sit with the case management my firm already runs?

## An answer to a breach-of-contract claim, built from eighteen files and a hearing recording

A Bogotá firm defends a freight company sued for breach of a supply contract. The partner uploads eighteen files in one message: the complaint, fourteen exhibits (six of them scanned), the contract in Word, the email thread, and the audio of the conciliation hearing. RuleX applies OCR to the scans, transcribes the hearing and asks three questions: what the company admits, which defense comes first, and which evidence it will ask the court to order.

- The conciliation hearing transcribed into a document that the assistant and the Drafter read; in the Transcription section the same record shows Speaker A, B and C, with the roles of judge, plaintiff's counsel and the company's manager that the associate assigns.
- A chronology, requested from the chat, with a column naming the exhibit, the email or the minute of the recording behind each event.
- Research on Colombian sources, with the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the statutes linked to the original passage.
- The answer to the complaint (contestación de la demanda) in Word, with numbered facts, merits defenses and requests for evidence.
- The filing deadline counted on the Colombian court calendar and saved as a dated task; once the case number is added, RuleX checks the Rama Judicial every night and emails what moved.

## How this comparison was made

RuleX publishes this page and competes with Vincent AI, so the method is on the table. Everything said about Vincent and vLex comes from vLex's own product, pricing and free-trial pages and from the coverage of Clio's acquisition in Legal Technology and LawNext, checked on October 30, 2026, with the links below. Everything said about RuleX comes from the product and from rulex.org/pricing.

Numbers that belong to vLex or Clio, a library of more than a billion documents, more than 100 countries and the dollar figures of the deal, are theirs and are attributed to them.

## What the Clio deal changed

On November 10, 2025, Clio announced that it had completed the acquisition of vLex for one billion dollars and had raised 500 million dollars in a round that valued the company at five billion. Clio calls the combination of its practice-management system with Vincent and the vLex databases an Intelligent Legal Work Platform, and it created a division, Clio for Enterprise, for large firms and corporate legal departments.

Clio launched Clio Work in October 2025 at 199 dollars per user per month as an add-on to Clio Manage, and since April 2026 it sells the product on its own to solo lawyers and small firms (LawNext, April 21, 2026). Clio also released a "Vincent by Clio" mobile app that month. The vLex pricing page in Spain lists plans from EUR 109 per user (Clio Manage Signature) and a free trial of Clio Work. For a buyer, Vincent increasingly arrives inside a Clio purchase. RuleX arrives as one account with a price published in each market.

## Research that ends in a document

A library answers what the law says. A workspace answers how the paper reaches the court. In Colombia, RuleX researches more than 65,000 official sources across 7 specialized indexes, and in the other 19 countries it researches the official sources of the country, always delivering the citation with its link.

The research serves the draft. The Drafter asks only what is essential, up to three questions, then writes in the Canvas beside the case file. In production on October 28, 2026, a Colombian right-of-petition letter of about 900 words with four cited sources was complete about twenty seconds after the last answer to the Drafter's questions. The Drafter has produced more than 4,000 documents and 8 million words, and every one exports to Word with native styles.

## Your firm's workflows, without engineers

Vincent offers Studio, a no-code builder that vLex describes as available to large law firms and enterprise legal teams. In RuleX, Apps and agents are built the same way: you describe the process the firm repeats, RuleX proposes the structure (up to 40 operations per proposal), you run a test on a real matter and you publish the version you tested. Three kinds exist: a guided workflow with a form and human review, a chat App with its own instructions and a Canvas mini-app.

Publish it for yourself, share it with colleagues by expiring link or, in an Enterprise organization, share it under "Your firm". Table Review, which turns up to twenty-five documents and twenty questions into a grid with evidence in each cell, is available in every country, and Colombia has nine more official Apps built for Colombian law.

RuleX sells three plans in every market. In the United States: Student $29.90, Standard $39.90 and Ultra $69.90 per month. In Colombia: COP 30,000, 40,000 and 70,000 pesos per month. In Spain: EUR 24.90, EUR 32.90 and EUR 57.90. In Mexico: MXN 189, 249 and 439. The Pro plan adds billable-hours tracking and transcription; Ultra raises the daily allowances. ## What a research matter in RuleX hands back

- Answers with every citation linked to its original document
- A transcript with speaker labels and the roles you assign
- A chronology with a column for the document behind each event
- The brief or pleading in Word, with native styles, and a PDF
- A Table Review grid exported to Excel when the question spans many documents
- Tasks and deadlines in the matter

## The vocabulary of each forum

A claim in Latin America is written in the vocabulary of its courts: derecho de petición and tutela in Colombia, amparo in Mexico, contestación de demanda in Peru, petição inicial in Brazil. RuleX drafts in the language and under the procedural codes of the lawyer's country, and publishes its price in each market.
