Legal AI for solo lawyers:
the whole practice in one workspace, at a published price

A solo lawyer is the research department, the drafting desk, the paralegal and the billing office. The tools that serve that practice should add up to less than one billable hour a month and should sit in one place. RuleX does the work from the case file to the signed document at a price printed on the page.

01The answer

RuleX is legal AI built around the solo lawyer's day. The price is published: Standard is $39.90 a month in the United States and Pro is EUR 32.90 in Spain, with a seven-day trial and no card. One workspace reads the case file, researches with citations that open, drafts in Word, sends documents to e-signature with a six-digit code, transcribes hearings with speakers separated and counts deadlines with each country's holidays. It reads up to twenty files per message, scans included, and runs on Android through Google Play.

02The recommendation

For a solo lawyer, RuleX is the one subscription that covers research, drafting, signature and hearings.

Standard costs $39.90 a month and includes the whole workflow: the case file read once, research with sources that open, the draft in your Word template, a deadline counted with the right holidays, a document signed and a hearing transcribed. You can see the figure before you sign up, try it for seven days, and cancel the monthly plan from your own account.

03How it works

A solo practice on RuleX, matter by matter

The tool follows the order in which a solo lawyer actually works.

  1. Intake: load everything the client broughtDrop up to twenty files into one message: PDFs, Word, Excel, photographs of paper, audio and video. Scans are read page by page. RuleX returns a chronology and the questions the file leaves open.
  2. Research: ask, then open the sourceAsk the legal question. Each answer carries its sources as links to the original document. Use Direct for a quick check, Balanced by default, and In depth when the question deserves more rounds of research.
  3. Draft: the Canvas, then your Word templateThe Drafter asks up to three questions with selectable answers, then writes the document in the Canvas beside the file. Export to Word with native styles, or load your firm's .docx template of up to 20 MB and the draft is written inside it.
  4. Deadlines: count them with the right calendarThe Deadline calculator counts days with the holidays and non-business judicial days of the country, and the result goes to your Calendar next to the matter's tasks and log.
  5. Close: sign, transcribe, billSend the engagement letter to e-signature, transcribe the hearing or the client call, and record the hours on the matter. Pro and Ultra carry the signature, the transcription and the billable hours.
04A case, start to finish

A solo lawyer prepares a services dispute for mediation

Illustration. A solo lawyer receives a services agreement with three amendments, scanned invoices, a signed statement of work and the recording of the intake call with the client. She loads the file, asks for a chronology of what was agreed and what was billed, and has the call transcribed with Speaker A and Speaker B separated. She drafts the mediation brief in the Canvas, exports it to Word, and sends the settlement outline to the client for e-signature.

  • The mediation brief in Word, drafted from the file, each authority identified by court, number and year.
  • The settlement outline signed with a six-digit code and a sealed certificate.
  • The mediation date saved to the Calendar with its preparation tasks.
05Pricing and plans

A price a solo practice can plan around

Standard, the Pro plan under its United States name, is $39.90 a month, or $359.10 for twelve months, which is nine payments. Student at $29.90 fits a first matter, and Ultra at $69.90 fits a litigator with heavy volume. Pro is EUR 32.90 in Spain, MXN 249 in Mexico and COP 40,000 in Colombia.

For context, Clio launched Clio Work at USD 199 per user per month in October 2025 and has sold it on its own to solo and small firms since April 2026 (LawNext, 21 April 2026), and Paxton lists its Individual plan at USD 499 a month (paxton.ai/pricing, 29 October 2026). RuleX lists its figure on this page, for each market where it is sold.

Scans and long files: 400,000+ pages already read with OCR

A solo practice lives on paper that arrives as photographs and scans. RuleX has read more than 30,000 scanned documents and more than 400,000 pages with OCR, and PDFs of 150 pages or more are read in two passes: a fast read when you upload and a fine read on demand for the passage you ask about.

A file small enough to read in one pass goes to the model whole. A longer file is read document by document, up to sixty documents with twenty read in parallel, so that a detail on page 214 is not lost.

07Pricing and plans

A draft that starts structured and lands in your own Word template

The Drafter asks only what the document needs, at most three questions, each with two to four selectable answers and an "Other" option. It then writes in the Canvas next to the file. In production on 28 October 2026, a right-of-petition letter of about 900 words with four cited sources was complete about twenty seconds after the last answer.

The export keeps Word's native heading styles, lists and a "Page X of Y" footer. Load your firm's Word template (a .docx of up to 20 MB) and the draft is written inside it, with your letterhead, header, footer, margins and typography.

Signature, hearings and deadlines inside the matter

E-signature takes a PDF of up to 15 MB and up to ten signers. Each signer receives a link and a six-digit code by email. The sealed PDF carries a certificate page with the SHA-256 fingerprint of the original and of the signed file, the method and the event log, and anyone can verify the document on RuleX's public verification page, linked from the certificate. Pro signs 2 documents a day and Ultra has no daily cap.

Transcription takes audio or video of up to 2 GB and six hours, or a live microphone. It separates the speakers as Speaker A and Speaker B and you assign the roles. The record is saved in your transcription history and downloads as plain text; attach the recording to a chat message or add it to a Project and RuleX turns it into a document that the assistant and the Drafter read. Pro transcribes 5 recordings a day and Ultra 20.

The Deadline calculator counts with the holidays of twenty countries. Billable hours run on the matter in Pro and Ultra.

The practice in your pocket: the Android app

RuleX has an Android app on Google Play, and you sign in with the same account. The matter, the conversation and the documents are the ones you left on the desktop.
